Touching Base and Closing the Loop

Lifehacker has a great post about office jargon and their true definitions, that you’d love to read. Here’s an example of one of the examples to “office-speaking”:

I’m calling to touch base: “I want something from you but I can’t say it up front.” Or “I am worried that you are lost and I’m sniffing around for signs to confirm my hunch.”

What a smart idea! Make good out of these annoying captcha boxes

If you don’t know what CAPTCHA means, just go to any website that requires some sort of registration - those little boxes with letters and numbers that you have to type? That’s captcha.

reCAPTCHA figured out a way to make something good of this really annoying anti-spam feature, that most website like to implement, instead of just hiring more people to filter the spam. They simply replace those images from random letters to specific words from books that were scanned. This way, instead of just bothering us, we also help digitizing books.

The 10 most ridiculous moments in the history of 24

kim1.JPGIf you ever watched a season of the hit series show, 24, you probably know how ridiculous the scripts can be sometimes, and that the twists in the plots, sometimes have no real connection to our ordinary life. We accept this, simply because we either ignore it, or we curse silently to ourselves.

Is yahoo for the people or for the money?

There are two different articles, dealing with Yahoo’s latest statements and  actions, stating two completely different things - while Read/WriteWeb is reporting that it’s all about the poeple, TechCrunch is reporting Yahoo’s new real cash poker, opening up in the UK. Well, maybe it’s here for both, and than again, maybe it isn’t and maybe the cops got them.
